Home school is a successful mode of education that is legal in the USA?
Barb asked:
I think that home-schools are a great asset to every community. There exist many positive outcomes and successful students from home-education.
The majority of home-school graduates do not need GED’s. They get high scores on the SAT and go directly into college with good scholarships and grants. Others go directly into the workplace. My son had 6 great job offers before he was even finished with home-school.

really ?
Yes, it’s good, but it can go either way, though they may be educational wise, successful as any one that attended a school. For some it maybe a challenge for when they go to college, because it will be a totally different atmosphere. At home it would have be more one on one, but in college, it’s not always going to be one on one.
Yes, but many are anti-homeschooling despite the OVERWHELMING FACTS and most anti-homeschoolers do not have any grounds, just generalizations and arrogant opinions.
As far as college and not knowing how to handle it…yet, again ANOTHER opinion with absolutely zero facts to back it up.
No, many US adults over 40 do not know it is a legal alternative despite the rise in popularity of homeschooling. I am old enough to remember when it wasn’t popular and many of my peers assume that laws that applied to educating our children in the late 70s and 80s are still the same ones that are on the books today.
edited here– Came back to look at this thread and op you have your answer to the actual ? you asked right here in front of you. NO the answer is many US adults do not know it. And it amazes me that more new homeschooling parents are not aware of that fact.
Homeschooling is a valuable tool to society. In America it gets a very bad rap because of the perceptions that people have gotten from media outlets and other sources. For a good example of this just look at the show “Wife Swap”. Whenever they put on a family that homeschools it is a family situation where things are not normal compared to normal society. Recently they had a family that was isolated from the normal community and lived their life as if they were in the middle ages. The truth is that there are many parents who homeschool and do not raise social deviants. There are organizations for homeschooling and they offer everything like clubs and sports teams and offer all the normal activities that kids would receive in a normal school. It is also viewed as something that is only done by the radically religious. Anytime in this society something is done by “radically religious” it is viewed as bad. what people do not realize is that whenever they show child geniuses who are in college at the age of 13 these kids are the result of homeschooling. I believe each family has to make its own decision as to what to do with its children and if regular schools are what they choose or homeschooling is what they choose then that’s okay.
I think that you are absolutely right.Home schooling is the best way to teach kids, and I wish that more people would realize that.kids get all the attention that they need to excel in school, they actually focus on they’re school work, and they have terrific relationships with they’re parents. Also they’re parents actually know what they’re kids are doing, instead of having to rely on teachers who have no clue to tell them.I wish that people would realize that home schooling is the best way,and that they should consider it when looking into ways of educating they’re kids.
I agree with you 100%!
I think they do know but as with everything else, there are going to be people who do not support the concept.
No, it isn’t. We have enough kids with GED’s.
